What Is Sober Living?
Sober living is substance-free housing where people in recovery live together while receiving treatment.
Not a hospital. Not a lockdown. A home with structure, where you keep your independence and hold to shared expectations. Read more onwhat a supportive recovery environment actually provides.
Where Does Sober Living Fit in the Recovery Process?
Sober living is not a level of clinical care. It is the environment that clinical care depends on.
You can do good work in group all day and lose it by 9pm if you go home to a house where people are using. Housing closes that gap.
Sprout offers High Support, Moderate Support, and sober living. Detox or residential care sit outside that scope, but we'll help you find it if that's where you need to start.
How Our Sober Living Model Works
Available to High Support and Moderate Support clients — choosing not to live here never affects your treatment.
Our homes serve clients working through substance use, including co-occurring mental health conditions.
We facilitate rides to your Moderate Support groups and High Support appointments. Getting to treatment is never the thing that stops you.
High Support runs most of the day, Monday through Friday. Moderate Support meets fewer hours, with evening options available.
No alcohol, no drugs, and a smoke-free campus. The rules exist so the house stays safe for everyone in it.
Sober Living Is Not Our Treatment Facility
These are two separate things: our outpatient clinic, where you attend treatment, and our sober living houses, where you stay while you're in treatment. Here's the difference.
You attend treatment at one and come home to the other. Both are part of the same plan, including for clients working through a co-occurring mental health condition.
Coming From Outside Lee County?
Most outpatient programs assume you already live nearby. Ours doesn't have to. Sober living pairs directly with High Support and Moderate Support, so you have somewhere to stay from day one, wherever in Florida you're coming from.

A supportive service, not treatment
Who Is Sober Living in Fort Myers Right For?
Most outpatient centers assume you already live somewhere stable and nearby. We don't — if you don't have that right now, or if where you live is part of the problem, that's exactly what our sober living program is built to solve.
We pair clinical treatment with recovery housing and transportation between the two. That means you do not have to be local to get care here.
Insurance Coverage for Sober Living and Outpatient Treatment
Our admissions team will verify your benefits, explain what your plan covers, and walk you through housing costs plainly, so there are no surprises after beginning treatment.

Medicare is accepted for general outpatient services only, not for High Support or Moderate Support.
We also offer a housing assistance program with limited monthly support for rent, utilities, and essentials, for clients who qualify.

What to Look for in a Sober Living Home
Florida has a long history of unregulated sober homes. Whether you choose Sprout or somewhere else, ask these six questions before you sign anything.
Look for a Certified Recovery Residence Administrator. Anyone can rent a house and call it sober living.
A bed is not a treatment plan. Housing tied to a licensed High Support or Moderate Support means your environment and your care are coordinated.
Ask about substance testing, guests, curfew, and what happens after a relapse. Vague answers are a warning sign.
If transportation is not arranged, ask how people actually make it to sessions. This is where placements quietly fail.
Get the number in writing. Ask what insurance covers and what it does not.
Ask whether there is discharge planning and aftercare, or whether the relationship ends when the rent does.
Sober Living Reviews
“This place saved my life and really helped me transition into a healthier lifestyle. The compassion and care, coping skills and the different approach to mental health and substance abuse has changed me! I can now live the life with my authentic self! I was in one of the lowest places and the staff loved me and had a different approach with neurofeedback and TMS to provide me with the best care. I would have died without this facility and now I am thriving. I have been to many treatment facilities and this was by far the most holistic care and treatment. They approach depression, anxiety and cognitive behavioral therapy in an advanced style. There aren't words to express how much they truly changed my life! I thank you Sprout! You are by far the most amazing healing place!!!!”
“Sprout recovery really helped me in my time of need. Etta is whom handled my case and she did so with kindness and complete professionalism and all in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend them.”

Not a call center in another state.
Call (239) 402-7152What is sober living?
Sober living is a supportive, substance-free living environment for people actively in treatment or early in recovery. It's a separate, residential space, not our outpatient clinical facility, designed to give you a stable place to stay while you focus on treatment.
How does sober living work with High Support or Moderate Support?
You attend your High Support or Moderate Support sessions at our outpatient clinic during the day, then return to the sober living house in the evenings and on days off. It removes the need to separately figure out housing while you are getting treatment.
Is sober living the same as your treatment facility?
No, they are separate. Our outpatient clinic is where you attend High Support, Moderate Support, or Ongoing Support sessions. Sober living houses are residential homes where you stay while you are in treatment.
I am coming from outside Lee County. Can I still access sober living?
Yes. The housing pairing exists specifically to make treatment accessible for people traveling from elsewhere in Florida, not just local clients.
Do you accept insurance for sober living?
Coverage for housing varies and is often handled separately from your clinical program's insurance coverage. Reach out to our admissions team, and we will walk you through exactly what is included and what to expect.
