How We Approach Therapy at Sprout

There is no single therapy that works for everyone, and any program that says otherwise is selling something. What works is a plan built around your history, diagnosis, nervous system, and the things you have already tried.

Every piece of your treatment plan is chosen for a reason, and your plan can be adjusted as your needs change.

What Does Evidence-Based Therapy Actually Mean?

Evidence-based means the treatment has been studied, tested, repeated, and shown to work.

Behavioral health is full of approaches that sound compelling and do very little. When your time, your money, and your recovery are on the line, you deserve treatment that has been held to a standard.

Evidence-based therapies work by getting underneath the symptom. They target the thought patterns that drive relapse, the trauma stored in the body, and the emotional dysregulation that makes everything harder than it should be.

They teach skills you can actually use at 2am when the craving hits or the panic starts, and they build the kind of resilience that holds up after treatment ends.

Therapies Designed for Change and Growth

Every treatment plan at Sprout is personalized. These are the approaches we draw from.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT works on the connection between what you think, what you feel, and what you do.

It helps you catch the thought patterns that keep pulling you under, the rumination, the self-blame, the certainty that nothing will change, and learn to challenge them instead of believing them automatically.

It is a first-line treatment for depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder, and it is equally effective for substance use, where it helps you identify triggers and build coping skills that work in real situations.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

DBT was originally developed for borderline personality disorder, but it has proven powerful for trauma, addiction, self-harm, and chronic emotional overwhelm.

DBT teaches four concrete skill sets: distress tolerance, emotion regulation, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness.

In practice, that means learning how to survive a crisis without making it worse, how to feel something intensely without being run by it, and how to ask for what you need without burning the relationship down.

Trauma-Focused Therapy

For many of the people we treat, depression and addiction are not the original problem. They are what grew from years of unprocessed trauma.

Trauma-focused therapy helps you process what happened without being re traumatized.

It works on the way trauma lives in the body and the nervous system, not just the memory of it, which is why people who have talked about their trauma for years can still feel stuck.

Group Therapy

Isolation is one of the strongest drivers of both addiction and mental illness, and it is remarkably hard to break on your own.

Our peer-facilitated groups, led by licensed clinicians, create a space where you can be honest with people who understand without needing it explained.

You hear perspectives that may shift your own, you practice being known, and you build the beginning of a support network that outlasts the program.

Family Therapy

Family therapy brings the people closest to you into structured sessions led by a licensed clinician.

You work on communication patterns, problem-solving, and decision-making as a unit, and address the specific dynamics such as enabling, conflict avoidance, broken trust, and boundaries.

Families leave with a shared language and a plan, which matters most in the months after treatment ends.

Neurofeedback

Neurofeedback is a non-invasive approach using sensors placed on the scalp that track brain wave activity and helps you learn to regulate.

It supports emotional stability, focus, sleep, and stress response, and it works alongside talk therapy rather than replacing it.

Most programs reserve neurofeedback for higher levels of care or don’t offer it at all. We include it in ours.

TMS Therapy

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation is FDA-cleared for treatment-resistant depression, and it is for the person who has already tried medication, maybe several, and not found enough relief.

TMS uses magnetic pulses to stimulate the brain regions involved in mood regulation. There is no anesthesia, no sedation, and no recovery time.

You sit awake in a chair, and most people drive themselves home afterward and go on with their day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which therapy is right for me?

That is what your assessment is for. Our clinicians look at your history, your diagnosis, what you have already tried, and what you are trying to build, then design a plan around it. Most people receive a combination rather than a single approach.

Yes, and most people do. CBT and DBT skills work well alongside trauma-focused work. Group therapy complements individual sessions. Neurofeedback and TMS are designed to run alongside talk therapy, not replace it.

It can be. We offer medication management and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) when clinically appropriate, integrated into your therapy plan rather than handled separately.

Both. We offer individual therapy, group therapy, and family and couples counseling, because recovery rarely holds without the people around you.

We do not currently offer virtual therapy. Our treatment is provided in person, which allows for the level of clinical attention and monitoring our programs are built around. For clients who need step-down or ongoing care closer to home, our team can help coordinate with trusted outpatient providers in your area.

Yes. There is no standard-issue plan here. Your plan is built from your assessment and adjusted as you go, because what you need in week one is rarely what you need in week eight.

TMS is often covered if you meet eligible criteria, and coverage varies by plan. Our admissions team will verify your specific benefits before you begin.
