What Is Sober Living?
Sober living is substance-free housing where people in recovery live together while receiving treatment.
Not a hospital. Not a lockdown. A home with structure, where you keep your independence and hold to shared expectations.
What it provides:
- A substance-free environment during early recovery
- Distance from the people, places, and routines tied to using
- Peers who are doing the same work
- Accountability, from staff and from the people living beside you
- Stability, so what you build in treatment holds
Where Does Sober Living Fit in the Recovery Process?
Sober living is not a level of clinical care. It is the environment that clinical care depends on.
You can do good work in group all day and lose it by 9pm if you go home to a house where people are using. Housing closes that gap.
| Level of care | What it provides |
|---|---|
| Detox | Medical stabilization |
| Residential | 24/7 clinical support, live-in |
| PHP | Intensive daytime treatment, most of the day, Monday to Friday |
| IOP | Structured treatment, fewer hours and days, evening options |
| Sober living | Stable, substance-free housing during and after treatment |
Sprout offers PHP, IOP, and sober living. We do not offer detox or residential care, but we will help you find it if that is where you need to start.
How Our Sober Living Model Works
It is optional. Sober living is available to clients in our PHP and IOP programs. Nobody is required to live here, and choosing not to does not affect your treatment.
It is built for substance use recovery. Our homes serve clients working through a substance use disorder, including those with co-occurring mental health conditions.
Transportation is handled. We facilitate rides to your IOP groups and PHP appointments. Getting to treatment is never the thing that stops you.
Your schedule works either way. PHP runs most of the day, Monday through Friday. IOP meets fewer hours and fewer days, with evening options. Residents in either program can work, attend school, and keep their responsibilities.
A professional oversees the homes. Our recovery housing is managed by a Certified Recovery Residence Administrator, available to residents directly.
Substance-free and smoke-free. No alcohol, no drugs, and a smoke-free campus. The rules exist so the house stays safe for everyone in it.
You keep your life. You can work, use your phone, and stay connected to your family. Structure is not the same as isolation.
Who Is Sober Living in Fort Myers Right For?
Most outpatient centers assume you already live somewhere stable and nearby. If you do not, or if where you live is the problem, you are out of options.
We pair clinical treatment with recovery housing and transportation between the two. That means you do not have to be local to get care here.
Our sober housing is a strong fit for clients:
- Traveling from Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, or anywhere in Florida
- Whose home environment is tied to their using
- Without stable housing right now
- Who need real distance to make early recovery survive
- Coming out of detox or residential care elsewhere and need a bridge into outpatient
Insurance Coverage for Sober Living and Outpatient Treatment
Our admissions team will verify your benefits, explain what your plan covers, and walk you through housing costs plainly, so there are no surprises after beginning treatment.
We also offer a financial assistance program with limited monthly support for rent, utilities, and essentials, for clients who qualify.
What to Look for in a Sober Living Home
Florida has a long history of unregulated sober homes. Whether you choose Sprout or somewhere else, ask these six questions before you sign anything.
1. Who runs it, and are they certified? Look for a Certified Recovery Residence Administrator. Anyone can rent a house and call it sober living.
2. Is it connected to real clinical treatment? A bed is not a treatment plan. Housing tied to a licensed PHP or IOP means your environment and your care are coordinated.
3. What are the rules, and are they enforced? Ask about substance testing, guests, curfew, and what happens after a relapse. Vague answers are a warning sign.
4. How do residents get to treatment? If transportation is not arranged, ask how people actually make it to sessions. This is where placements quietly fail.
5. What does it cost, and what is included? Get the number in writing. Ask what insurance covers and what it does not.
6. What happens when you leave? Ask whether there is discharge planning and aftercare, or whether the relationship ends when the rent does.

This place saved my life and really helped me transition into a healthier lifestyle. The compassion and care, coping skills and the different approach to mental health and substance abuse has changed me! I can now live the life with my authentic self! I was in one of the lowest places and the staff loved me and had a different approach with neurofeedback and TMS to provide me with the best care. I would have died without this facility and now I am thriving. I have been to many treatment facilities and this was by far the most holistic care and treatment. They approach depression, anxiety and cognitive behavioral therapy in an advanced style. Ther aren’t words to express how much they truly changed my life! I thank you Zion! You are by far the most amazing healing place!!!!

I haven’t received treatment from Zion Healing Center but called to get information on the TMS that they offer. I spoke to Kaitlyn and let me tell you. She is very knowledgeable, friendly and answered all my questions. She didn’t push for me to make an appointment and called a week after to check up on me. Very caring. She is top notch. Thanks for all your help.

I want to share my experience. I am a 63 year old man and had suffered depression for over 40 years off and on. I tried medicines, years of talk therapy. I got covid in Nov. 2020. I almost died. I missed 31 days of work and actually went back to early but I was worried I would lose my job. The reason I tell the story of Covid 19 is because I have been through hell for 3 1/2 years now. I am a covid long hauler and if you dont know what that is, it is what happens to 10 to 20% of the people that catch covid and survive. My depression came back 10 times worse then the other past 40 years. I was and still have so many medical issues and NO doctors will help me. Now back to Dec 2023. I never told anyone how bad my depression had gotten since covid. I started looking for help online and I saw a add on FB for Zion healing center. I told myself that if I didn’t try to get help who knows what I would do. I went in for my consultation and after asking questions about what services they do I didn’t even think about it, I signed up that day. I started my NeuroStar treatments that Friday. I had signed up for the 36 treatment plan. Going every Monday through Friday like they recommended. The first week I didn’t notice much. But after week 2 and 3. I noticed a big change. My feelings of wanting to fall asleep and not wake up started to change.

There is a warm and comfortable atmosphere that puts you at ease from the moment you walk in. During my initial appointment, the staff listened to me without judgment and went over all the services & we created a plan that would best support me. I’m grateful for their kindness and professionalism. I recommend trying the neurofeedback, it helped relieve my anxiety
